TDK MA90 metal cassette tapeYou think you know House? You don’t know Jack! Is it Jack Music? House? Garage or Chicago Groove? It’s 1987 and we finally decided on a name for the genre – House it is. Many years later we still dance to House, and all its wonderful mutations. Here’s the original, a real crackerjack mix by Paul Dakeyne, lifted from the Disco Mix Club February 1987 LP.

Tracklist: Mel & Kim – Showing Out,  Nitro Deluxe – Let’s Get Brutal, Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley – Jack Your Body, The Force – It’s Ok, It’s Ok, Home Wreckers – Jackin’, Jesse’s Gang – Real Love, Raze  – Jack The Groove, Wired – To The Beat Of The Drum, The House Master Boyz & The Rude Boy Of House  – House Nation,  J.M. Silk – I Can’t Turn Around, MTR – The Walk, Adonis – No Way Back, Denise Motto – I.M.N.X.T.C.

Here representing Britain in the 1986 Disco Mix Club championship is DMC regular Chad Jackson. Featuring the Set It Off break that was huge in this year, plus other instrumental biggies like Mr Magic Man by Rochelle, Axel F Harold Faltermayer, Alice Full Force plus more. Standard choice of samples to scratch, one or two needle skips which seemed to be forgiveable in 1986. Chad came a well-deserved second place behind DJ Cheese. This recording is from Robbie Vincent’s show on Radio London.
